Asian Citrus Chicken Skewers


  • 500g boneless and skinless chicken breast (cubed)

  • grated rind plus juice of 1 lemon

  • 2 tbsp Chinese 5-spice powder

  • 1tbsp dark soy sauce

  • mixed vegetables (spring onions, carrots, radishes) cut into strips


  1. Place the chicken, lemon rind and juice, 5-spice powder and soy sauce in a bowl. Stir until combined. Cover up, then leave to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes. Overnight is better.

  2. Thread the chicken pieces into 4 presoaked wooden skewers. Pushing them tightly.

  3. Grill for 10 minutes under a preheated moderate grill.

  4. Turn the skewers, baste with any remaining marinade and grill for another 10 minutes.

  5. Serve with mixed vegetable.
